“BUILD A BETTER WORLD” – Summer Reading Program 2017
The Summer Reading Program runs June 23rd – August 19th. Residents/card holders of all ages register to take part in a fun-filled summer! Kids (3 yrs – going into 5th grade), Teens (going into 6th – 12th grades) and Adults have separate programs to read, log their time, earn incentive prizes or raffle chances, and if they read a minimum amount, get entered into a drawing for grand prizes at the end of the summer! This year’s theme will lend itself to wonderful story times, crafts, activities, and a wide variety of workshops and programs for teens and adults. Get your Reading booklet at the library once you register online. It is filled with events, and it will list all of our generous donors that help make this program possible. To visualize progress through the summer, this year’s Summer Competition Mural on the wall behind the desk will be a cityscape. As kids, teens and adults read and log their time, color coded bricks will be added to their buildings. Read and watch our mural evolve over the summer! Once you are registered you can start logging on June 23rd!

This year’s theme, will lend itself to wonderful story times and special activities that focus on construction along with how we can be a positive impact on the world and people around us. In helping to Build a Better World”, the library will have a donation box for the Food Pantry for families to donate and help locally.
To help globally, the library will have a “Wishing for a Well” jar on the counter for families to bring in pennies to donate. The pennies collected will be donated to Water Is Life – a non-profit organization that provides sanitation, clean water and hygiene education programs around the world.
